We offer week-long horse
camps in English riding specializing in dressage, cross-country jumping and
show jumping. These are geared for all levels of riders to learn correctly in a
safe and fun environment. Lunge lessons and trail riding are included for
everyone. Camps conducted in small groups of up to 10 campers.
We cover as many topics as
possible such as horse care and management, grooming and handling and a visit
from our vet to cover a wide variety of horse ailments and injuries. Instruction and
horse care managment are based on the Pony Club Principles. Campers enjoy riding two
sessions per day, which include both flatwork and jumping in the arena as well as our
cross country course, or for the less experienced a trail ride and basic beginner jumping.
Fun games and riding to music and dressage may also be included and campers enjoy riding
several different horses during the week. We go swimming in the afternoons to relax.
Beginners starting from the ground up are welcome. More advanced students can work on dressage and jumping techniques
and enjoy the challenge of the cross-country course.
The week culminates in a Horse Show, so there is plenty of fun for
everyone.
Campers are encouraged to help each other and to form a solid team.
Following the success of our camps in 2007, and striving
to make each year even better, for 2008 we will be offering custom made eventing week-ends:
stay 1, 2 or even 3 nights.
At the present time we are offering week long camps and may add more dates.
If campers wish to stay an additional week this can be arranged at a discount rate.
Please contact us for further details.
What is new on the cross-country course?
We are continually upgrading our cross country course to include features such as a water complex
and several more challenging jumps for the more experienced rider, while at the same time keeping our
introductory jumps the same to make sure that all riders have a fun and safe experience. We now have the
pond area cleared of blackberries and there will be several jumps around it and even through it!
Another new item will be a track suitable for galloping or for a nice hack.
Because of the small groups we are able to give
personalized attention for every camper, even when the group contains different skill levels.
What are the accomodations like?
Campers sleep on cots in cabin-like tents, two campers per tent.
A camp counselor sleeps outside in a tent with the campers. An indoor shower and bathroom is available.
What is the daily schedule like?
All campers ride twice a day. In the afternoons, we cool off in a small swimming pool.
During the week we will have a visit from the veterinarian and go swimming in Lake Mendocino.
All camps run Saturday to Saturday and end in a fun horse show for all campers.
